Translation (Rita Seng Mai)
It is about women talking back to their husbands word for word. What happened in one family was that the couple always quarrelled. Whenever they argued, the husband beat his wife. Then she went to a Catholic priest for help. (They were a Catholic family.) That Catholic priest married the couple. She told the priest, "Father, I don't want to be with my husband. Please, let us divorce." The priest said, "You were married before Jesus, so I cannot grant you a divorce. Go back and think it through carefully. Be patient and stay with your husband." After three or four days, the couple fought again. And the husband beat his wife again. So the wife went to the priest and said, "Father, I don't want to be with him anymore. He always beats me." The priest considered the reason for their fight and said to her, "Go back to your house and stay with your husband." However, the couple fought again after four or five days. The husband beat his wife again. Then she cried and went to the priest. The priest said, "This is the medicine for not getting into a fight." He took a small bottle from his room and gave it to her. He said, "If you see your husband getting angry, hold this medicinal water in your mouth. Just hold it in your mouth. Don't swallow it or spit it out." When her husband got angry, she held the medicine the priest had given her in her mouth. No matter what her husband said or cursed, she didn't talk back at all. The priest told her that she could spit it out or swallow it once her husband was calm. After two or three days, the husband got angry again. At that moment, she held the medicine the priest had given her in her mouth. No matter what her husband said, she didn't respond at all. Once her husband was calm, she swallowed it. She did that three or four times. The husband also thought, "My wife doesn't talk back to me anymore, no matter how much I curse her. I was wrong. I treated her badly. I was wrong." He regretted his actions. Later, they lived happily and peacefully. She told the priest, "Father, our family has become really peaceful since I started using your medicine." The priest said, "You talk back to your husband word for word. When your husband says this much, you talk back to him even more. Your husband beat you because he didn't want to listen to you. And this is not medicine. This is just water." Since then, their family has become really happy and peaceful.
